Terms of service
Draft, pending legal review. These terms describe how the Redacted service works today. They'll be finalised after legal review; until then, email hello@redacted.co.nz with any questions.
1. The service
Redacted is operated by TechMedics Ltd ("we", "us"). With your authority, we contact the data brokers on our list and ask them to delete your personal information and stop disclosing it. We then track and report the results to you.
2. Your authority
By agreeing to these terms and giving your authorisation, you appoint us as your agent to make requests to data brokers for you, and to handle their replies. We act only for people who have given their own authorisation. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings; we'll then stop making new requests for you.
3. Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate details about yourself, and only your own details.
- If you're a Family or Business plan owner, invite only people who agree to be covered. Each person gives their own authorisation.
- Keep your sign-in details secure.
4. What we can and can't promise
We'll send clear requests to the brokers on our list, follow them up and report honestly on the results. We can't control how brokers respond, so we can't guarantee that a broker will delete your information or keep it deleted. We don't remove information from official public registers, news media, or content you control, such as your own social media.
5. Plans, payment and cancellation
Plans are billed yearly in New Zealand dollars through Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices include GST. You can cancel at any time from Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal.
6. Consumer law
If you're a consumer, you have rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. If you're using the service for business purposes, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act doesn't apply, to the extent the law allows.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for the actions of data brokers or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
8. Ending the service
You can delete your account from Settings. We may suspend or end an account that's used to submit requests for someone without their authority, or otherwise in breach of these terms.
9. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal information.
10. General
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and New Zealand courts have jurisdiction. We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell customers by email before it takes effect.
